Whether on the handball court or in software development, Fabian enjoys taking on responsibility. He joined BBT’s Health team in April 2023, bringing not only technical expertise, but also team spirit and a positive attitude.

The computer scientist, who is 30, feels more at home in the mountains than by the sea and looks back on an eventful period: he lived in Potsdam for five years, where he played handball at a high level while also gaining valuable professional experience. Today he is a youth goalkeeping coach at SG Pilatus and passes on his experience to the next generation.

At BBT, Fabian works as a developer in the field of health. In addition to software development, he is currently taking on the role of Release Manager for the core on an interim basis and has also previously worked as a scrum master. His day-to-day work is varied: he prepares releases, fixes errors, develops new functions and works with the team to continuously improve the software for customers. Regular coordination with the developer and specialist teams is just as important as the programming itself.

Fabian particularly values the opportunity to take on responsibility and continually develop his skills. New tasks and technologies motivate him to think outside the box and learn new things.

His path to BBT was a combination of chance and having the right contacts. Through friends, he heard about a part-time vacancy – an opportunity that was perfectly suited to his life as a competitive athlete at the time.

His professional career began with an apprenticeship in computer science at CS. He then moved to Potsdam, where, over a period of five years, he not only played in the 3rd Handball Bundesliga, but also studied computer science and gained valuable experience as a working student and software developer at Sparkasse and in the GEO data sector at DELPHI IMM. Fabian returned to Switzerland in 2022, playing handball first in the Nationalliga A and later in the Nationalliga B, before joining BBT on a part-time basis in spring 2023.

Looking back, it was actually the taster days he attended while choosing his career that had a decisive impact on his future trajectory. It was there that he discovered his passion for computer science.

What particularly motivates him at BBT is working as part of a team: supporting each other, developing solutions together and overcoming challenges. It is precisely this team spirit that makes the difference to him. He is particularly proud of the fact that, in a short space of time, he has been given more and more responsibility and is able to actively contribute to the success of important projects.

Fabian hopes to continue helping to shape new technologies and further expand his knowledge in the future. He is particularly fascinated by the potential of artificial intelligence, which he believes opens up exciting possibilities for the software development of tomorrow.
