Two proven and high-calibre insurance and IT experts recruited for BBT

As part of the annual strategy process, the Board of Directors of BBT Software AG (BBT) and the Executive Management team have decided to further develop the company’s core business, the insurance sector, and thereby build on its strengths. Specifically, this means that BBT’s growth is to be pushed and its positioning in the Swiss health, accident and life insurance market is to be honed. To support this extensive, strategic market cultivation, two new members of the Board of Directors have been elected, who will complement the existing BBT Board perfectly.

Patrick Frank, born in 1966

IT engineer Patrick Frank has been Head of Group ICT, Data and Operational Excellence and a member of the Corporate Executive Committee at CSS Krankenversicherung AG since 2017. Before that, he worked as Head of Department for System Technology and Operations within CSS. Prior to joining CSS in 2005, he held various positions at EMC Computer System Schweiz AG.

Joachim Masur, born in 1965

Joachim Masur has worked in start-ups as a director, advisor and investor since 2018. He previously worked for Zurich Insurance in various executive positions, most recently as CEO of Zurich Switzerland and before that as CFO of the Global Life segment.

Hubert Rüedi takes over the presidency

In addition, lawyer Hubert Rüedi, who has been a member of the BBT Board of Directors since 2005, is taking over the tasks of the Chair of the Board of Directors at the request of parent company the Volaris Group, replacing Mike Dufton in this role.

Walter Capozzolo, CEO of BBT, adds: «We are looking forward to working with them very much and are convinced that our ambitious strategic goals can be successfully realised with the help of these two gentlemen».

The new six-person BBT Board of Directors is as follows:

  • Hubert Rüedi, the new Chair of the Board of Directors
  • Brian Beattie, previous member of the Board of Directors and representative of Volaris
  • Mike Dufton, previous member of the Board of Directors and representative of Volaris
  • Hermann Biner, previous member of the Board of Directors
  • Patrick Frank, new member of the Board of Directors
  • Joachim Masur, new member of the Board of Directors
